not let weather affect you mood. You can't control it, but you can dress warmer, look better, make tasty, healthy and warming meals, spoil yourself with hot drinks and feel better by spending time with your loved ones.

take care of your hands! If you can't afford regular manicures, get yourself a set of nail oils, hand creams and treatments and use them regularly. And if you want your hands to look good, do all your housework using rubber gloves. As annoying as it might be, nothing makes a bigger difference and nothing gives your age away as much as hands, so treat them with love and care. I promise to try too.

make a face or hair mask from the things you have in your kitchen - greek yogurt, avocados, egg yolks and bananas - there are countless ideas, depending on your skin type. I have collected recipes for about a year, but still haven't tried any of them and some are quite brilliant, so today I will just do it.

drink it up - in a good way. There's no need for artificially sweetened drinks or those loaded with sugar. Unlike chocolate and cheese, which are also full of calories, they don't fill you up at all - I also rarely drink fruit juices, unless fresh pressed, for this reason. Switching to herbal teas or water spiked with lemon, lime, cucumber or peppermint will be one of the best decisions you ever make - and your body will thank you!

take a walk. It's probably the thing that makes the biggest difference to my day - the fresh air, moving around and seeing life move around me refreshes and relaxes me and often sparks new ideas.

Maybe today is the day to... (New year edition)

get healthy and fit. It's hard to do it without loving yourself first, because then you will always try to sabotage yourself. If only it was that easy... I always had trouble loving myself until I found someone who saw me as worth loving, so I guess I'm not the expert on this subject. But things that did help me love myself a bit more were exercising, being active and eating better. These choices I made also eventually made me look better, which might have had something to do with catching the attention of my husband. So maybe it's worth giving healthier lifestyle a try:)

Maybe today is the day to... (New year edition)

try making your usual take-away, favourite muffins or cupcakes or maybe recreating that special pasta dish from your neighbourhood restaurant at home. Amazingly, when I did this with my favourite stir-fry and banana bread, both turned out even better than originals and I'm no super chef! Of course, part of the pleasure of buying take-outs is that somebody else made them for you, and often the rest you get is actually worth the price, but since making my favourite recipes, I haven't bought any ready food in a while.

use something you have in your home in a different way. I adore beautiful chocolate, coffee and cookie boxes - these can help you organize your home and make the best containers for all kinds of things - from threads and needles to buttons and other goodies. And you probably have some left from Christmas, from all the gifts and sweets you received - somebody put a lot of thought in these (or maybe the supermarket did:) ) and it's a wonderful way not to let them go to waste and a chance to use your imagination. Have a great weekend - there are less parties and celebrations in January, but it's full of its own kinds of pleasures!

Maybe today is the day to... (New year edition)

make supper from the things you have in your fridge and kitchen shelves (unless all you have is cold champagne:) ). There are probably some eggs, vegetables, butter, cheese and rice, so you can make so many things - from fritattas to risottos to vegetarian chilis. Cooking with what you've got can be quite a fun challenge and will eventually make you a better cook - because you have to use your imagination and intuition and make decisions about things that may or may not work. I used to be quite a bad cook, but I guess the more you do it, the better you get at it! Good luck and have a great supper!

use what you've got. And we all have more than we need - even if you don't like shopping, we still buy some things almost daily, not to mention gifts we recieve for Christmas and birthdays. - pen or pencil and notebook, for jotting down great ideas;
- some make-up, especially blotting papers, face powder, lip balm and lipstick;
- nail file, hair brush, elastic bands and adhesive bandages;
- travel size deodorant, shampoo, toothbrush and toothpaste.

You never know...:)
